The story behind the image:<\/p>\n
I found this in my driveway as I stepped out of my car. As a kid we knew these as ?helicopter seeds? and the street I grew up on, was lined with them. This is the first time I had a variety of choice when choosing which seed would be photographed, as the floor was littered with them in varying states of decomposition. <\/p>\n
The very linear structure of the veins reminded me of ripples in sand. Even its colouring was reminiscent of the desert. I am fascinated by the dichotomy of the desert. It is vast and empty as well as being simultaneously full of detail and unexpected life. I struggled to decide just how many silhouettes to add to this scene as the desert is both empty and full of life. In the end I decided while there is a lot of life in the desert in the form of snakes, scorpions, lizards and beetles they are however for the most part invisible and hidden.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
